Dear God,

I have the joy of teaching 3-year-old Sunday School at my church. This past Sunday we were seated on the carpet and had just finished our Bible time when one of the co-teachers asked if any of the children wanted to pray. Of course several volunteered and we made our way through the precious little prayers. When we came to the fourth child I guess he felt the need to keep it short and he prayed. "Dear God, amen." Of course the other teacher and I thought it was sweet and quite comical. Well... Sunday evening rolled around and we had a guest speaker in our evening service. At some point in the service,  he asked how often we go to God in prayer with a willingness to listen? Later that night I was thinking a bit more about that question and the sweet little prayer from Sunday School that morning came to mind. It was a perfect example of what our prayers should be made up of sometimes. Dear God, and instead of us being so consumed with asking God for things, we should allow Him the opportunity to speak to us! If we are so busy talking and rushing through our prayer time then we are probably missing what God has to say to us!
